The Economic Growth and Development Center (Economic Center) recently hosted one of its regular Economic Development Study Tours in Calgary, Alberta, led by Prof. Magnus Kpakol. This edition featured delegates from the Nigerian Armed Forces, including Air Vice Marshal Adole Abraham Ogebe and Rear Admiral Bankole Olusanya Abiodun. The delegates visited oil-producing host communities in Alberta, gaining firsthand knowledge on maintaining peace between these communities and oil companies.
The Economic Center emphasizes the importance of the Nigerian military gaining a deeper understanding of the economic development challenges faced by the nation, particularly in its oil-producing regions. By participating in this program, Nigerian Armed Forces personnel were equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to address complex issues at the intersection of economic development and security in these areas.
After the Economic Development Study Tour, participants were introduced to global partners and investment opportunities. For those interested in participating in the next tour, please get in touch with us at +234 708 672 6000, +234 913 556 2466, +1 469 468 9645, or email info@egdcenter.org.
