Economic Growth and Development Center (Economic Center) is launching a transformative Economic Development Training program designed to equip government, Organisations and community personnel with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to promote economic growth, poverty eradication, job creation, food security, personal and community security/safety, entrepreneurship, investment attraction, and wealth creation through practical, capital-market-driven development initiatives.
This program aligns with Nigeria’s urgent need to stimulate broad-based economic prosperity and bridge the gap between economic potential and real development outcomes through increased productiveness.
Why Economic Development Training Matters
In advanced economies, nearly every city, province, and major institution maintains an Economic Development Office or dedicated department focused on growth, competitiveness, and job creation. These offices coordinate investment promotion, small business support, workforce development, trade expansion, and urban renewal—ensuring that every community actively contributes to national prosperity.
By contrast, Nigeria and many developing economies have not institutionalized such focus. Few local governments or institutions maintain trained Economic Development Officers. As a result, opportunities to promote increased productivity, expand exports, attract investors, create jobs, and develop community wealth are often missed or left to chance, often resulting in a massive living standards gap.
Economic Center is determined to close this gap by helping every local government, institution, and community in Nigeria establish an Economic Development Office, staffed by trained and certified professionals capable of driving sustainable progress.
